Now, I change target, moving from a budget coordinate to a definitively luxury coordinate.

It appears to be starting a business trend involving Italian fashion houses and hotel trade.

Following hotels opened by Versace and Bulgari, the international press have report news concerning two more Italian brands moving into the hotel business.

On Friday, December 2, Rezidor Hospitality, a hotel management company, announced will partner with the Italian fashion house Missoni to create a new line of hotels under the brand name Hotel Missoni.

 ”The hotels will be reflective of contemporary Italian life and style” Rezidor said. (see source )

Yesterday, Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani visited what will be the tallest tower in the world, when completed in 2008, the Burj Dubai, which will feature one of the world’s first Armani Hotels.

That is a consequence of the agreement signed in May 2005, between Giorgio Armani SpA and Mr. Mohamed Ali Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties, for the development of a unique worldwide collection of ten luxury hotels and resorts.

Mohamed Ali Alabbar said:
“It is an honour to be able to work with one of the world’s most iconic designers in realizing this ambitious project. There could be no better setting for one of the first Armani Hotels than the Burj Dubai which, when finished, will define a city and be a global beacon synonymous with style and luxury.” (see full story )

Italian fashion designer Miuccia Prada has chosen the actress Kim Basinger, 51, as model for the Miu Miu collection spring/summer 2006.

Featuring movie stars in their forties, it appears to be the new trend of the fashion houses, as also Versace had chosen middle-aged stars such as Demi Moore, 42, and Madonna, 47, in recent campaigns.
